Hi Morris Minor aficionados
You folks all seem to have a lot of history with these little cars...
I have only ever seen 3 Morris Minors in my whole life (never even driven one)...living in the USA they did not sell well...I really wish they (the Morris Minors) were more popular over here....I have owned VW Bugs...probably had 6 of them over the past 47 years...but there is something about the looks of the Morris Minor that has me smitten with them...
I wish I had seen these little cars 50-60 years ago (my dad was a German car guy)...I probably would have a fleet of them by now...
So what makes them draw you into their world???...I can't figure it out
Thanks for any insight.

Re: So I am late for the party
Oh my! That is an interesting question......for myself, its a combination of things. When I was a small child a great aunt had a 1000 saloon and I loved excursions in it. Going on picnics with the mouth-watering smell of my gran's freshly baked pasties in the boot! That car later became my parents' car when great aunt bought a later Minor. So there are some sentimental reasons but, beyond that, I like the distinctive look of the car and its curves, I like the cheerful aspect from the front, I like the sound of the exhaust and they are lovely to drive. I've had 2-door and 4-door saloons, a couple of splitties and a traveller. I like the relative simplicity of the car as well.
Be interesting to hear from others on this

Re: So I am late for the party
After arthritis put pay to my motorcycle riding, I decided to buy a classic car. The reasons for picking a minor where:
We loved the shape.
Good value to buy compared to some over inflated models.
Great spares availability and very simple to work on.
I had never even driven one until the test drive, which is weird as over 55 years driving, including motor vehicle apprenticeship, I had driven more types of vehicle than I can remember. I have also owned many bmc cars.
It turned out to be a great choice, 3 years of ownership and many outings and loads of smiles from both inside and from passer by.
No regrets and my wife says it can never be sold
