Can anyone help please, I have been sold a MANN
H804 t filter. It looks rather long and I didn’t want to drain the oil until I have all the parts necessary. Is this actually the correct part, if not does anyone have the correct part number please? It’s for the 1098 engine.

If its a spin on type I use a bosch GFE166 common on many.

I can't directly help you, as my car has a Spin On Conversion.
When built, there were 2 possible oil filter makes used, which had different housings. However the filter element was always the same, a felt one was used on the 918, 948, & 1098cc. Only the 803cc (as your SII car originally had) was a metal can screwed direct to the block.

But a great many cars have been converted to Spin On Filters over the last 50+ years.

The best thing you can do is post a photo of the Filter Housing you have fitted.
You need the relative measurements of the 2 filters to compare them.
The original felt filter was 8G684. There are comparison websites that you can use.
Hopefully someone still with an original filter housing can help you .....

The filter you mention (when looking at images online) reminds me of a site I've bought spares from which is actually a tractor spares site, and I've seen that although they had the same head, the oil filter housing itself appears much taller on tractors, so I'm wondering if the filter is for a tractors oil housing.

is the type/size of filter in my 1098cc with the original style of housing/filter by Purolator, as you can see it's on the dumpy side compared to the model you say you've got.

Alternatively you could unscrew your oil filter housing from the car and look inside, if you're careful you shouldn't lose that much of your oil since it would only be at worst whatever is in the housing and in the feed pipe.

I have an original Purolator on a 1098cc. The filters I use are a paper element type supplied by ESM. Have a look at their website as they may list the part number. I do have spare filters in my garage but I’m in France at the moment.

Unless someone has messed about with it, the car should take a normal filter in the filter housing. Assuming it hasn't been changed to a spin-on type, I would buy a regular filter from (say) ESM and then you have the correct filter to hand. If both filters fit, then you will at least have a spare for next time. But if the MANN one doesn't fit, then at least you would have the correct one to hand to do the job you want to do. But a photo of the existing filter will help us give a more definitive answer......

Bosch are finished as a company making quality items, best shut the factories now.
It's all made outside Germany, Europe if you understand.

Yes that is the alloy head of the Purolator type without the blocked oil filter warning feature.

To use this you would need all the other parts, the oil filter metal canister, central long bolt, pressure plate etc.

The standard paper element type filter is Unipart GFE103 and equivalents.

It's a bargain at £50 , especially as no supplier has had one for years and you won't find another.

Yes they are quite unusual to find new old stock but I have two of them both the Purolator type with blocked filter warning electrical connection. These parts do turn up from time to time.
