Wipers not wiping

Post by Lee96 »

Hello,
I have had an issue with my wipers not wiping along the whole length of the blade. I replaced the blades with some from ESM which hasn't helped, so I replaced the arms as I was told the spring might be weak, and that doesn't seem to have helped either. This means that I cannot wash my windscreen using the washer jets and wipers. Both ends, and the middle seem to wipe but there are parts of the blade that don't.

Is there any more I can do or are Morris Minor wipers just like that, and the only way to clean the screen is with a spray bottle and cloth?

If both ends and the middle wipe, it’s surely the blades,——new of not. I can’t see the screen being distorted !

It does sound like the blades. Are the arms pushed right on to the spindles? Sometimes there is grease on the screen that will only come off with old fashioned abrasive glass cleaner. Try cleaning the screen, especially where the wipers park, with Autoglym Glass Polish (not the Fast Glass) and you will be amazed how much contamination comes off. This is the type of cleaner that is a milky liquid. You apply it, allow to dry and buff off like Windolene was many years ago. It is vastly superior to the spray liquids which are mostly alcohol.
