Hello all,
I have been following the forum for many years and have already benefited a lot from the knowledge of the members, thank you very much!
A few weeks ago my transmission broke down.
It is a reconditioned ribcase gearbox -, two years old, driven 200 miles.
Symptoms: after an unpleasant noise, the second gear jumped out, the third gear did not go in at all, only first, fourth and reverse gear worked.
Transmission removed, the broken parts - Interlocking Ring (Bronze)-2nd/3rd Gear (ESM 10G173) - came to light.
Does anyone know how this can happen? Material defect? Wrongly assembled?
Does anyone know what function the trio 1.bush - 2.ring - 3.bush has:
1.Bush-3rd Speed Gear (2A3290) ESM 10G172,
2.Interlocking Ring (Bronze)-2nd/3rd Gear ESM 10G173
3.Bush-2nd Speed Gear (2A3298) ESM 10G175
Before reassembling I want to know, besides the anatomical facts, the functional relationships to possibly be able to draw conclusions in case of malfunctions and to avoid mistakes.
After I had ordered and assembled new parts, I found that the bushings and ring do not fit together, bush third gear goes very hard into the interlocking ring, bush second gear doesn’t fit at all. I assume that the parts must easily interlock, i.e. before installation they had to be reworked.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Jürgen
