Series C pickup update.

Yes it appears it was'nt a series 2 as I first thought but an Austin Minor as some people call it ( I call calling a Morris an Austin a bit like calling a spade a shovel!).

I bought her for £2600, The previous owner was'nt joking. The fun and games I've had getting him to deliver her to the garage as agreed was just alittle stressful.

She's going to have:- two front wings replaced. One dented, the other ones rusting from the inside out.

Two new wheel arches, ones starting to break off as a result of damage that has allowed rust into it.

Two new cargo floor sections (or both sides if you wish).

Front doors cleaned out and wax oiled to protect them.

New sills underneath.

Pickup flap repared and pannel underneath repaired.

Underneath to be fully wax oiled.

Cost of £2134. That will be the body restored (fully) the mechanics are sound so I won't touch those so that should just leave the respray and new seats.

Its a labour of love thats going to give my bank manager a coronary. Remind me what posessed my to fall head over heels for Honey?

She's BEAUTIFUL, that's why! I should Waxoyl the inside of the tail gate as well, 'cos they rot from within, and do everything you can think of to protect the rear arches and rear of the back lights...

as austins started later, and came in 2 versions 6cwt and 8 cwt, 8 cwt being the hardest to get

The guy who sold her to me said it was a reluctant sale, he was'nt kidding. Six weeks after buying her and the keys have only just arrived with todays post! Its been fun and games to say the least.

I have always wanted a tweaked pick-up...but need the van for work...and then there's limited space...



If a reasonably priced local w/shop or lock-up garage becomes available though.....

You should have seen the look on the event organisers face when I told her at my first Minor branch meeting that I had a tented series C Austin Minor. As I say theres been abit of fun and games and shes costing me a fortune but I hope to reap the benefits of a proper restoration job over time

They just don't make things like this anymore. My friends have offered me more modern cars for £2000 but they don't have the character of the old British made ones. Yep, I'm in love all right.
