Just a reminder, it is drive it day next Sunday the 27th of April, it would be good to see more Moggies out there, plaques can be purchased here https://www.driveitday.co.uk/ proceeds go to the NSPCC
See you on the road.

Plaque at the ready. It’s a slight farce though as every day is drive it day

My intention is to go to the MMOC AGM, now I've got Basil's carpet and seats back in after the handbrake lever replacement.
From an unknown point in Basil's history, probably the refurbishment circa 2000, he's not has any lining under the carpet.

I brought 3 mtrs of latex backed underfelt back in 2019, just so I had it to fit when I got around to it. After almost 6 years of it being up on the garage roof joists, I decided with the seats and carpet out now was an appropriate time...
Just after taking this photo, I realised I had only made one slot in the felt each side for the seat mountings....

But all back together now. Better weather tomorrow so I'll go for a test drive to see if it's reduced the noise at all. :)

As long as you can still hear the fuel pump, the Minor parp from the exhaust and the mighty A series engine. :tu1:

I've lost count of how many 'drive it days' I've had over the last year!

Exactly but it’s a worthy charitable cause

I drove around in my Minor for an hour or so yesterday and only saw a man on a scooter and my neighbour in his mk1 Granada.

I was not organised enough to do it for the charity, but I don't think the Drive It Day message is getting through.

A lot of MMOC branches had organised meets including mine. We saw a lot of other historic vehicles on the roads. Not just cars but buses too.

Lots of old vehicles out on the roads in my area. We drove to Cowley Classic drive event at Notcutts garden centre organised by the round table. 30 or 60 mile route around Oxfordshire.
Also lots coming and going to Bicester Heritage. :tu1:

It's nice to know that some areas got involved. :tu1:

I went to the Club AGM yesterday. 50 miles each way, so a reasonable outing.
First trip out after the handbrake and floor insulation work.
Had a strange metallic rattle at certain speeds/vibration levels. Put the handbrake on at the first set of Lights I encountered, and it twigged.
The 'button' on the SII handbrake lever rattling like a 1950s Childs Toy...
So that's a project to sort out; a bit of Blue-tack stopped it for the trip home.

It really is strange how I can cause a rolling roadblock on a duel carriageway, doing 50-ish along the A46 and very few passed, those that did were usually at Warp Speed, while other cars sat behind for several miles; I can only assume fascinated by Basil in front....

Won the furthest travelled by a MM/SII, though being the only SII, with no MMs there, kind of sealed the deal on that..
Trophy now displayed next to the Masters of the Marque award he won at the Great British Car Journey Morris Minor Day last summer.

Parked up outside the AGM next to a slightly younger model... I really should have taken a couple more seconds to compose the photo better...
