Shackleton spent most of his time in the Antaractic doing rather than blustering. Scott=everyone died. Shackleton=everyone survived.

Once started hard to put down.

Agreed. It is probably the single most courageous and skilful act of navigation that is known to man. That is not an exaggeration. I used to sit in the cloisters next to the tiny little boat the "James Caird".
