After I finally managed to pick up a steering wheel for Murial id like to pick your brains please.

The bakelight is faded around the wheel and I’ve read that I can use a vinyl paint to restore, but has anyone else done this with any success please?

I've never done this but I can't see any reason why it should not be successful, as long as the surface is clean and prepped properly. I would go for a semi-gloss finish, you don't want it too shiny.

Can't help regards using vinyl paint but I've used 2pk paint on several steering wheels over the years,

2pk is very hard and very hard wearing so will last for years,

Obviously it comes I every colour you can imagine and by using matting agent you can take the high gloss shine off if you want,

As long as the original wheel isn't breaking up you will just need to flat it and prime / paint it

Do remember that 2pk paint isn't really suitable for spraying at home so probably best to talk to a local independent body shop,
