Pitted Aluminium

I've read today that I can sand back pitted aluminium and, once happy, spray it with a lacquer. I'm specifically looking at the wind mirror stalks and the bonnet hinges.

Has anyone tried this with success please?

In think you will find that these items are made from cast MAZAK. This will not polish and the original items were chrome plated.

Yes. You won't regret it. New chrome looks so good.

When replacing chromed parts don't buy cheap stuff. Pay for the quality made in England parts or source new old stock or good second-hand genuine parts. The cheap stuff looks nice for 5 minutes and then corrodes. Buy cheap, buy twice with chrome.
