Hi,
I've spotted this on eBay a few times, apart from the incorrect colour coding of the wheels and grill, I have never heard of smoke blue?
A nice colour and it does seem to be more 'blue' than the usual mistake / confusion people experience with smoke grey, so was this a factory option briefly?
Best wishes,
Mike.

According to Ray Newell's book, Smoke Blue was an option, but only available between October 1954 to February 1955, so not available for very long........

A very rare and attractive option. Goodness knows why it got dropped so quickly. One local club member has a Series 11 saloon that colour and another has a Traveller but there are not many about.

Crikey, I just took a look at that advert and realised I used to have a Smoke Blue 2-door saloon splittie for a while back in the 1980's! I didn't realise it was so rare back then so forgot about its colour! Now its all coming back! I still have some photos, I think.

I agree it looks good and suits the car, not sure the red interior works well with it though.
Would that be an original option with this colour?
I have to say I can think of better matches that wouldn't clash quite as much.
A an aside, I wonder if you'd still be able to get the paint to put the wheels and grill back into their correct colour?
I tried to get a colour match for my old green (ex Tasmania) split screen a few years ago and the (reputable) company advertising their ability to match any colour, couldn't.......
Still for sale......
Best wishes,
Mike.

I can confirm my Smoke Blue 2-door had a red interior, Mike. I always thought it was a good combination - but then, I'm red-green colourblind so who knows!

Yes, maroon carpets and trim was the only option for smoke blue cars. Interesting colour choice, maybe that's what ended the run of smoke blue cars ? In my opinion, a nicer colour than sandy beige which replaced smoke blue.
