Hi all, re the rear hood rail that fits just above the rear window, the rear rail is separate to the main front rails, when the hood is put p I have to raise the rail up manually, should this be fixed to the hood somehow, there is two small holes through the rail, but I would not really like to put holes in the hood for screws, is there another way of fixing the rail to the inside of the hood?

That is how the hood is fixed to the rear rail on mine. Just 2 screws. It has always been that way. The screws should have a cup washer under their head and I have seen them with a small circular piece of hood material under the washer as well. Mine has never let water in through there despite being kept outside. It would be a right pain to have to raise that part separately to the main frame!

I agree with ManyMinors, though mine is kept indoors.
If you do suffer a leak, I am sure a dab of silicone sealant under the cup washer would eliminate it.
Of more concern is the folded rear window chafing on the top of the seat squab or inside of the hood. This can impact its transparency. I keep a roll of very soft cloth on the seat squab and wrap it around the window as it folds. I still get some bands of opaqueness (after 12 years!), but I suspect this is due to internal stresses in the plastic, or maybe the outside face chafing against its folded self.
