my Traveller came with a marina back axle conversion, the garage is fitting a new brake cable.
Does it need 2 cables like the standard Morris Traveller?

Don't you know what it had before you let the garage have it?

For a Marina to Minor rear axle conversion you will need the two standard Morris Minor handbrake cables. Make sure that the handbrake cables have grease nipples.
The Marina single rear brake cable is dispensed with and the two Minor cables fitted.
When fitting the Marina rear axle to the Minor the Marina rear axle brake back plates are rotated to bring the operating levers forward of the axle casing and a new hub oil seal leakage drain hole drilled to suit. The Minor hand brake cables are attached direct to the rear brake levers with the outer casing of the Minor handbrake cable attached in a similar way as the Minor. You may have to make up a suitable bracket if not already fitted.
There is no adverse brake effect in rotating the brake back plates as the leading and trailing brake shoes are positioned as ex factory and the brake performance remains the same.
I had the Marina rear axle fitted to my Minor Ser 2 and never had any problems with the two Minor handbrake cables or braking performance.
I would suggest that you obtain the Owen Burton Marina to Minor modification booklet 2nd edition. IMHO later editions are not so good.
