Hi All,
Does anyone have suggestions about the best place to get/best type of 3 inch pipe for the air intake? It seems to be out of stock at the standard places.
If nothing else is suitable then I may see if MinorParts have a secondhand option as I’m picking up a fuel tank from them anyway.

Have you just tried Google search, which comes up with options such as Amazon.

Tom Roy has them listed for sale, second hand. You need to call or email to confirm stock though.

I’ve seen the pipes on Amazon but want something with ends on that’s the right length ideally.

I think you'd be better off with an original second-hand part. I have seen people use alternatives but the pipe is so prominent in the engine bay it just looks wrong.

Agree. Needs to be original / right.

Google certainly brings up lots of alternatives but none look original. Frustrating, there must have been so many discarded over the years.

Can be worth contacting a few Mini specialists. Minis of the same period (1960s) had the same heater, and the same hose

I think I have a reasonable secondhand one, I will look when I get home, next Wedneday if that helps. Junction 36 M1.

Problem solved. Thanks to Richard and David at Minor Parts Oxford. I spent an enjoyable hour with them yesterday.
Also got a replacement lever arm as one leaks…thus my apparently careless paint overspray that Stephen noted…I knew it was dud. Also a tank that’s decent.

Oh dear. Sorry if I was critical. I don't remember. Was that when I was actually standing in front of your car? Great news on the air intake hose. Looks good. A bit of a fiddle but you can give it a good clean with a washing up brush and washing up liquid or similar and it will get all the muck out between the ridges. Also good to replace leaking dampers. Good condition dampers make a dramatic difference to the handling of the car. Mine were awful, especially at the back, and I should have swapped them for refurbished ones years ago.

You made me laugh Stephen! I’d forgotten to add the leaking damper to my list of ‘must change before MOT’ stuff (it’s a loooong list).
