I need some help with the venting sysstem, having found out that there should be a Y piece fitted to the heater and two hoses going to vent adaptors for the screen vent, I started looking into it, I have found what looked like the parts on eBay but after asking the seller if it was for the early series 11 (1953) I was informed that it was not, after speaking to the spares secatary we think they may be the same vent adaptors up to the 60's, but the Y piece is specific.
So firstly a photo of the underside of the dash and as you can see there are no fixing points for the adaptors to secure to. download/file.php?mode=view&id=26813
is there some other way they fit or has someone removed the fixing points, also does anyone have a spare Y piece and or the vent adaptors?

My car is later (1969) and I am not very familiar with the early heaters. However, there have been several post on the MMOC Facebook group concerning the restoration of the round Smiths heater and there are pictures too. One of those photos shows that Y-piece. I suggest you have a look there.

The round Smiths heater was fitted to many other cars including the early Landrovers.

You could try Clayton Classics who specialise in round Smiths heaters (amongst other parts) and also Emberton Imperial who are Landrover specialists mainly but stock some rare parts (including the correct thin-walled ducting that fits both early and late heaters).

Stephen thank you, it is the screen vents I need to know about, although since posting I found an old post about heaters in one of the USA states where they were not fitted, to retro fit the svreen vent adaptors there is a need for two holes to be drilled on the top of the dash, to fit them, but that is difficult to do with the screen fitted. There does not seem to be any holes for them in my car

Ah! Those are exactly the same screen vents as used in later cars.

I have always thought that the black Smiths heaters were Series III kit and the gold were for Series II and possibly earlier. It may be that yours was fitted aftermarket in a car that was not 'De-luxe'.
