When refitting the engine and gearbox, am I right to say that the wiring harness goes under the gearbox cross member (5 speed in my case)? I can't recall which it was and the photos I took, before taking the engine out, don't make it clear. Judging by the clips on the chassis rails, they look like they are meant go under the gearbox cross member and then sweep up up through the jacking point cross member.

When I removed the engine, I took the gearbox cross member out first and strapped the gearbox to a small trolley jack but I think it would be better to fit the gearbox cross member back in first, before refitting the engine and gearbox. I have a tilting device, that allows me to get the engine more or less level, so the gearbox back end won't be hanging down, as it would if I didn't have the tilt control device (This is my first engine out with that device and my first Minor engine out, which save for a racing car, was the easiest engine I ever removed). What do you do?

I can’t say categorically, but I think it passes through the semicircular cutouts of the crossmember where it meets the chassis rails.
This is where I passed my harness, thinking it would be afforded some protection, under the crossmember I thought damage was more likely.

I can see that the standard gearbox mount is very different and I don't think you could remove that before the gearbox or refit it after the gearbox. Mine was complicated by a brake pipe, going from the master cylinder to the servo, that was attached to the cross member (Attached shows the standard 5 speed mount and the extra support I have added to spread the load), which I am re routing, so it's not affected by gearbox removing. I am going to add a second brake light switch whilst at it. It will be near the first, so if that fails, I can easily swap the wires. I am going to wire in a relay, to lower the current across the switch.

I looked closer at one of my photos and lightened it a bit. I can see that the harness was above the cross member but the hydraulic clutch gets in the way of it running where it does on a standard car. I am making sure it will all fit together so that if the clutch hydraulics need attention, it will not entail removing more than just the items in question.
