Hope someone can help ... My boot lock handle sheared off leaving the square rod and the back end of the mechanism stuck inside. I've tried to extract the square rod without success. I've tried to turn it to open the boot with needle nosed pliers without success. In short I'm locked out of my boot and I'm praying I don't get a flat tyre!
Any ideas much appreciated ... GZ

I’m not too familiar with the saloon but I think there may be a hole in the panel behind the rear seat back. However, even so the boot handle may be lower than the boot floor. Perhaps first try turning the rod with something more substantial than pliers; a spanner or mole grips.

I agree with Les, can you get an open ended spanner in there?
Has the handle broken such that you can't force it back on, to enable it to turn the shaft?

Here is an intact (new) lock and an old boot lock in bits. Also a picture of the inside of the boot lid.

I am not sure where your handle/lock has sheared off. If all you have is a short bit of the square that is too short to get a grip on you could just drift the square inwards. It will just fall out in the boot. Then you'll need to find something to use as a square to open the boot. A screwdriver the right size could work.

Or maybe use locking molegrips on the square and pull it out slightly so that it is easier to turn.

Edit: I think the part of the square shaft that has been peened to hold the dome shaped piece of the lock may prevent the square from being drifted inwards into the boot. It would be better to try to pull the square outwards.

If the square drive is solid, drill and thread it, then screw in a long stud you can grip to remove it.
