Timing chain swop

Just fitted a new timing chain kit to a 1098. All good chain pulleys lined up with shims on the crank and timing marks lined up . Turned engine over distributor firing on no1 and valves on 1and 4 rocking. Is itcright that the pully timing marks are now 180

Timing marks are number 4 firing tdc
External timing marks are number 1 tdc firing.
If the internal gear marks are inline when you fitted the chain don't worry about it.

As Bill writes re no. 4 on t.d.c. firing stroke.
I recently changed mine and queried this.
I had changed it years ago but without the distributor cap removed.
It was only because, after removing the distributor cap, I noticed the rotor arm was at cyl. 4 with the dots aligned.

When fitting distributor drive the manual says number 4 firing when internal marks cam to crank are aligned, although it mentions external tdc mark being on top which later was at bottom of timing chain cover.

So valve timing is set number 4 firing not number 1 which is for ignition timing
