The 2 point sealed beams were off the car when purchased. I am now fitting them but I cannot get the lamp unit clamped when assembled. I'm thinking there is something missing that fits between the housing and the lamp. Photos show the components. Can anyone advise please?

There should be an inner that fits on the adjusting screws and a spring, the headlamp holind ring fits to this with 3 screws.left side of illustration. This is not necessarily the specific one for your year but shows you what is missing.

I concur with Bill, you're missing this part: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/elect ... it-p829791

It was used with several, but not all, the headlamp assemblies over the years.
All mountings had a 'clamp' arrangement, either just 2 rings as in the topmost of these illustrations (item 13), or the larger 'bowl' as in the middle (28) and bottom(46). The Bottom is the Sealed Beam one.

Thanks for the inputs. After further searching of the bags of bits I found 6 small angled clips that proved to be the the clamping method.

That'll work.
Not the standard equipment, but I have seen sealed beams with those small individual clips instead of a full 'ring'.
I suspect an aftermarket conversion kit.
Your original photo seems to have vanished? :-?
Have you deleted it or do we have a Gremlin in the system??

The internals of these are notorious for corrosion. Somehow my 1969 has retained the originals although they are pretty awful internally. The Wipac kits are mostly plastic and I might try them when I replace my rusted front wings. However, I have been saying I would replace those rusty wings for over 25 years….
