Here's an interesting question.
My chassis number is */***-D112241
What type of morris do i have?
The question is in regard to a query by the DVLA who have just realised that an error has been made with the V5 doc. Dating back to 1981!

Hard to say. You have blanked out the letters which identify the model of car.

Most curious that DVLA have noticed an error in the recorded details, their usual attitude is that they are right and it's down to you to prove in biblical parchment what is wrong....
I'm very surprised that someone who had had a Minor for several years doesn't know how the Chassis Number System works.
But then we're all different; I accept that many don't have my curiosity...
The only clue you have given us, in your redacted number, is the 'D' which means it was built as a 'Deluxe', and the number from around 1965....
You presumably don't know about the Potteries Branch website.
You can learn what you need to know, and a great deal more, over there...

I was looking to get an independent check. Looking at the chassis number info on the internet. Chassis numbers of around 112241 were created around 1951. M/AW5, ties in with a Morris 1000. 1965 Chassis numbers go from 1092770 to 1131828, which tie in with 1122241. Which is on the chassis plate attached to the car. Which, yes is a 1965 reg Morris 1000. The clincher is, the full number was entered on a number of old MOT certificates issued in the mid to late 1980's. Strange why DVLA did not pick up the discrepancy then.

112241 would NOT have a prefix of MAW5. The latter refers to a Traveller with a 1098 engine, all of which were car numbers > 1 million. What type of body does yours have - 2-door saloon, 4-doot saloon, Traveller, convertible?

So please correct me if I'm wrong here, but what you're saying is that the car, physically, has 1122241 on the ID Plate, BUT, the current V5C has a '2' missing.???
You've got documented evidence on old MOT Certificates, so where does the problem lie?
DVLA must have the old records on file showing the 7 digit number.
If they can provide me with records going back to the 1960s for my 1955 car, they must have some old County Records for your car.
Sounds to me like they're being too damn lazy to look in their own archives and are putting the onus onto you.

Now all sorted, with a replacement V5 showing the correct info.
The weird thing is i did not notice that there was a number missing, and it was only picked up on my last MOT test.
