TRAFFICATOR SWITCH WIRING

I have a second trafficator switch which I want to wire to operate indicators. I have wired it up how I have done in past cars with ( looking from reverse of switch) top left earth , top right flasher relay , bottom left right side lights , bottom right left side lights , bottom centre left empty, bottom centre right live via flasher relay,
Left hand Indicator lights and switch warning light flash ok when switch turned to left but when turned to right I get quicker flashing lights and only one flash from the warning light.
I have checked all the connections on switch , relay etc and they seem ok. Testing circuits I wired an earthed lamp into the cable from the switch to the front and rear lights where I have a bullet connector splitting the cable to front and back. Test bulb flashed and lights plus switch warning light flashed ok.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

I am no expert in electrics but I am wondering if the indicators all worked while using the test lamp, is it possible that there is a poor earth on one of the RH lamps and that the test lamp provided a good earth enabling the system to function?

I think myoldjalopy has covered it.
It'll likely be a poor connection somewhere, although at the moment, I'm at a loss to understand the Flasher unit being mentioned twice?
