I had a new parcel shelf installed by ESM a few years ago. Unfortunately, I put something that was too heavy on the parcel shelf (a fire extinguisher) and it has come adrift from the crash pad on one side.
I have never fitted a parcel shelf before so I am asking here to see if I can make a repair or whether I will have to fit a whole new parcel shelf.
Is the parcel shelf riveted to the front bar? I know it is riveted to the bulkhead at the front. The shelf seems to have torn through where it is fixed to the front bar. I am thinking that if I drilled some new holes in the front bar I could simply rivet the shelf back on. Does that sound possible?

Re: Parcel Shelf Repair (1969)
From memory....I made a new shelf from a sheet of very thick packing cardboard that I borrowed from work? It was riveted onto the metal bar at regular intervals. I see no reason why you could not drill extra holes and rivet through them. I would, however, use the little washers you can get for rivets and use them to spread the load.
