Van I.D. Plates and stamping

Post by Cookie807 »

Good evening all,
I have a 1972 van that I am restoring, it’s now come to the time to renew the I.D. plates / chassis plates, I have the chassis plate (unstamped) for the engine bay, but hoping someone can let me know any others like the passenger door one or under the bonnet on the bulkhead or original plates the van would have had when new.
I have seen many in pictures on the internet, but some are black, some are blue and are stamped with different info on them.
Also where can I purchase these from and get them reverse stamped.
Many thanks in advance to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

Unless CKD, an NMP plate with attendant strip(s) on the NS bulkhead would have been spot welded on the NS engine bay tie plate. I can help with the plate but not the bulkhead strips, (yet).

Hi, firstly many thanks for getting back to me with your advice, I do still have those original plates after the restoration, and today I found a place that actually does the new ones also ESM have them.
My main concern is getting the right chassis plate number and getting it stamped, I have all the books and they explain what the letters/numbers should be but I’m just not confident I have the correct ones to get stamped.
Regards Rob
