Chassis stiffness.

I've always preferred the 4-door over the 2-door. What I want to know is which is the stiffest (torsion and beam)?

I imagine that there's probably little in it, given the pretty insubstantial nature of the 2-door b pillar compared to the 4-door, but compensated for by the fact that the 2-door has fewer apertures.

Any pearls of wisdom?

In my opinion and experience I would say that the 2 door shell has more torsional and beam resistance than the 4 door.
The stiffness, torsional strength and beam resistance of my Minor is greatly improved by the fitment of a six point Safety Devices full roll gage.

I can't help thinking that the b-pillar/rear side panel assembly of the 2-door leaves a lot to be desired, but neither can I help thinking that you are right, given your competition experience!

Thanks for the reply.
