converting to 2 speed window wiper
I have been reading all the correpondence on converting clap hands wipers to a 2 speed motor,is it worth it? Is the faster speed any faster than the one speed? did anybody come up with the difinitive plan? For those interested in tackling the conversion the 2 speed push/pull switch is avalible from Rimmer bros. part no 131812.
Re: converting to 2 speed window wiper
Are you referring to a 948cc Minor 1000 with one piece windscreen, or the earlier cars? If 948 and If you fit the same motor (from a Mini) as used for the tandem wipers, then the slow speed is slightly slower than the current one and the fast speed is a lot faster. Really worth it if you use the car as a daily driver and have to drive through a torrential downpour, particularly on main roads, otherwise, probably not. Personal choice. Electrically and mounting the motor are straightforward, Your challenge will be finding the correct gear wheel to give the sweep that you need. My experience (with tandem wipers) has been that the self-park switch fails with depressing regularity - its a small plastic unit that clips into the body of the motor.
Re: converting to 2 speed window wiper
my car has a one piece windshield but has been converted to a 1275cc.If i find this mini wiper motor does it come with the self park unit or will i have to source it separatly? Then there is the thing about the gear wheel, seems like a lot of work, hear in Devon there are not the morris owners that have the means to do that kind of work,so maybe i'll leave it for now, just that it rains here alot in deepest Devon.

The two speed wiper motor was also fitted to Mgb's ,Midgets and many other vehicles all fitted with park switches. I bought a used mgb one £15 and parts are easy to get you just have to know the what degree wheel you want. mines on the project shelf thanks for pointing out that triumph switch I was looking at a toggle switch. Here's a link for parts the wheel have raised area for the park switch. https://www.s-v-c.co.uk/categories/staf ... components
