...of classic car ownership. Few miles under the belt now since Alternator/Electronic distributor/Duplex conversion. Coming back from a show 2 weeks ago, a constant, changing with engine speed high pitched squeal appears. Rub (new) belt with my trusty tyre crayon, nothing. Alternator pulley running true, get to thinking the new setup has made the water pump bearing let go, but no leaks and not that wobbly. so, let's take of the fanbelt and run it. I know that will still leave me to work out if it's the Alternator or the Pump. Got to be that. Start up, squeal still there. Arghh. Please not something to do with the Duplex!!!??? Good look to see anything obvious fouling everywhere. Go and brew up, have a sulk.
Enter herself, having just returned from having her nails done, and having as much interest in Motors as I have in the Tic Toc videos of make up, hair products etc she insists on showing me. Anyway, I explain what I'm up to and demonstrate the Squeal still there with the belt off. Annette feigns a little interest and concern, asks what I think it might be, and then leans on the air filter Welsh hat. Squeal stops immediately. She stands up, starts again. Bloody Carb had worked loose. Arghh!!!
