Layshaft rollers

Got an eBay kit from rated supplier to do very noisy gearbox (input bearing was actually breaking up!) and have also replaced very worn layshaft but find both layshaft needle rollers are very slightly longer than original so spring rings cannot be fitted. Is it a problem that they float around (a very small amount)?
I could expoxy glue the front where it slides in as this would be easy to clean up if I needed to do it again. But I'm tempted just to leave them, they both butt up against thrust washers with lubrication channels.
Thank you for any obs.
