Engine Breather Mod

I had a go at replacing the material in the crankcase 'chimney'
I had a spare so it was dissected and the grotty mess scooped out. Although it was, mostly, intact it was solid with gunk

After a clean and paint

£3 for six off Ebay, stainless steel

Two did the job

And a Mikalor clamp with a rubber gasket under it to hold it together

That should improve the breathing a bit :D

Nice work. I would like a can with a screw thread and o-ring seals for ease of cleaning.

I would suggest that one stainless steel pan scrub is enough. The crankcase fumes need to have easy passage through the pan scrub. Too much pan scrub could restrict the flow of fumes and then you are back to as if the breather was blocked. The pan scrub is there to catch the oil carried in the fumes and the one pan scrub will catch the oil and allow it to drain back to the sump.

Yes when I have packed the can with pan scrub I blow through the can to ensure that there is no restriction.

I'll pull one out, that makes a total spend of 50p for the packing material.I already had the clamp and paint :D

One scrubber removed and it took all of five minutes - I had a tea break halfway through :D
