Any one bought clip.on mirrors from.esm have job trying to figure out where hiw they go

I fitted mine into the metal of the door frame where the quarterlight straight glass section is.

I'm pretty sure the quarterlights can't be used now either from memory.

My car has mirrors on the wings. I find them Ok if set correctly. I couldn't have a mirror that stopped the quarter light opening. They are too useful for demisting the car.

On the subject of mirrors, I find the wing mirror not too bad but the current ones on the car are not as good as the originals which were on when I bought it in 1978. Instead of the quadrant type arms they are almost 'S' shaped and take the lenses further out. I have looked at auto jumbles and on line, but cannot find them. Any ideas?

Those original mirrors were made by Desmo. They are very sought after now but do turn up now and again. I bought a pair on ebay a few years ago.
The ones you have now look like a Tex mirror.
On my Minor I found the clip on mirrors pretty hopeless and have now fitted the Lucas copy mirrors onto the little triangular covers forward of the quarterlight. These work very well.

Okay, so the quarterlight would open, but you'd lose your view (and potentially your mirror since the mirrors can loosen over time)
(and I forgot I had it on the glass, not the frame).

Drilled through chrome triangle in front of quarter light, it's still useable. Could do with passenger side having slightly longer arm, it's fine driving but would benefit when reversing to see back wheel.

My car has had these mirrors since well before I got the car 35 years ago, possibly from new. What I notice is that my mirrors are not mounted on the very top of the wing. They are slightly on the outside curve and I think this makes a difference. As my car is 1969 the different shape is in keeping with that period. As far as I know, they are Desmo. They are sprung to fold back if accidentally hit by something.

My Clamp on, from ESM, is fitted as shown.

You can make out the scuff marks where a PO had fitted one, but it wasn't fitted that well and it was too high for my liking, obstructing my view.

Those are one style of Tex mirrors which were popular in the 1960s and are still available now. British Motor Heritage took over the manufacturing I believe.

They say call for bespoke options so maybe they can fabricate the swan neck style shown by firedrake1942.

Probably overkill, but I have a door mirror fitted, as further up, to the trim piece forward of the quarter light. Plus two wing mirrors.
I still have the parking light I purchased, probably 1970ish. Clips over the top of a closed window. Probably exactly the same as that pictured above by geoberni. Two crocodile clips for connecting directly to the battery.
If I remember, it was illegal to park on a road without lights then. These overcame that requirement and were perfectly legal.

Some cars if you left indicator switch in either left or right and switched off the ignition the front and rear side light illuminated on one side only. Marking parked car without having 4 lights draining battery. I believe parking lights were required on unlit Road.

These days we don't realise, or remember if old enough, what road conditions were like 60+ years ago. The National Speed Limit was only introduced in 1965. The 50s & 60s were a period of great change in things like Speed Limits.
As part of my work with our village road safety team, I obtained copies of all the Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO) our County Highways could find affecting our village. A TRO is required to introduce any change to the roads, lines, signs, limits etc...
We used to be on a Major Trunk Route, an A Road right through the village centre, until the bypass was opened around 1989.

We're all used to a 30 limit where there are street lights, unless posted otherwise. It wasn't always like that....
This map is of the introduction of a 'Proposed 30mph limit' in the centre of the village, on the A Road, in 1970 !
So get off that pink line and the road is a 70 limit... In those distant times, there were loads of places in the country without street lighting where there was no speed limit.

These days, it's still a requirement to have marker light on a vehicle, parked on a road without street lights, that is NOT also a 30 Limit zone.

I am still trying to work out how my door mirror is supposed to fit, the upright on the quarter light is the perfect spot but it is impossible to tighten up the Allen screws once it is in place, also if they are not screwed all the way in the glass hits the Allen screws. And of course, there are no instructions.

Have you tried fitting them on the drop glass side of the chromed frame instead of the quarter light side? You can take mirror off the bracket to aid fitting

The mirror came with an Allen key that is supposed to be used to tighten it to the frame, but the key is too large to go into the gap for the head of the screws, so although it fits the screws, it won't fit in the gap to tighten them !!!!
