Morning all
Hope you can help with this I have reupholstered the front seats in Meggie and cleaned the covers which are PVC but they are quite dull and I am struggling to get any sort of shine back into them. I have tried Mothers cleaner and various polishes but to no avail.

This is only what I've read so whether true or not I couldn't say 100% but...

Apparently vinyl has an outer layer, this is the glossy top layer.

Some cleaners can destroy this layer, leaving only the vinyl underneath.

If that's the case then it's possible that your top layer is gone.

However I did see a YouTube video where they used a vinyl lacquer to bring back the gloss, but I don't know what it was, also it was some time ago I watched it.

All that said, I wouldn't say my own original seat cover vinyl has any real shine to it, barely above a matt finish, once cleaned they look pretty much identical in colour and appearance to some of my new replacement vinyl from Newton Commercial.

So I suppose it depends on how much shine you're trying to get and how dull the vinyl is.

What about wax polishing them? Rub a little carnaubia wax in and polish off. Or even a wax furniture polish spray?

Thank you for your replies they are much appreciated after kirsch og Googling as well as lots of elbow grease with different solvent cleaners I am now looking at vinyl fabric dye. I have a old seat cover to try on and will see how that comes out.
