1098 Thermostat Housing??

I've just noticed in the AKD 3541 Service parts List, that the listing for the 10MA engine only shows a Thermostat Housing with the facility to fit a Temp Sensor.
Websites such as Moss Europe show it as an alternative for any Minor engine, but it's also listed 'NCA'.
Was this really the standard fit on the 10MA engine? There's no mention of any alternative housing in the AKD 3541. :-?

Has anyone actually got one of these on a 1098 engine??
I thought all the 1098 Heads had the position for the Temp Sensor? :-?

They seem impossible to find these days, Part Number 12A 408... apparently also used on some Mini engines.

The thermostat housing with temp take off was not a standard item on a 1098cc as all the 1098cc heads had a temp take off facility as standard.
The 12A408 thermostat housing is quite rare though they are available new at a price from Australia.
There is currently a 12A408 thermostat housing for sale on 'e' bay.
I recently purchased a 12A408 but had to pay £40 for it but it is in excellent condition with no corrosion at all.

You could also get a thermostat housing with the temp take off on the top.
You could always use a Marina thermostat housing with adapter fitted into the filler plug so as to fit a temp sensor.
Have a look at the thread below:-

That's what I thought. my car's already sorted with a sensor in the 1098 Head, I was just surprised that the Parts Catalogue showed it like that; hence asking if it was actually ever used on S5 cars. :tu1:
