I have a gold painted gearbox for a 1000 , Is this a works reconditioned unit

You probably have a "Goldseal" recon unit or someone could have just painted it gold - who knows. If it is a recon unit you have no way of knowing how many miles it has done since - it just means it was thoroughly reconditioned at some time (30 years ago ?).
