Thinking of swapping my 1275 engine for a refurbed 100 from ESM .Would this be straight forward as I have the ford type 9 5 speed box.Are there any extra bits required etc thanks.

I would have thought that gearbox more suitable for the 1275 engine. Although I’m no authority.

Is that a refurbished 948cc or 1098cc 100?
What 1275cc engine is it that you propose to swop?

Not sure which engine it was but I believe it was the larger one but that one is gone skyway.Will have to wait for another.The one I have is a 1275 that was rebuilt but I am advised there us an issue with the camshaft that may have needed work.And the two middle pistons are showing 50 pressure were as the other two are 150.So I guess easier to swap for something I can rely on thanks.

If you are going from a 1275 to a 1098 then you will need a 1098 flywheel suitable for the Type 9 clutch. (1098 has 4 flywheel to crank bolts 1275 has 6)

I think most would choose the 1275 unit, especially as you have one. Then rebuilding it properly, should cost no more than getting another unit. It depends on your preference, of course.

Even so I don't think I can get it done for the price of the ESM one at £1000.Also don't know anyone in Wales that could do the job so may be best to buy reconditioned.

As I say, whatever you’re happy doing. You’d easily get a 1275 reconditioned for £1000, simply because you already have the unit.
———— but if you can’t do it yourself or find another company, certainly don’t trust the last place it was rebuild at !!
