Just an idea for rain deflection.
I haven't been able to fix my headlights flush with the front wing body. Maybe they don't fit flush I'm not sure, certainly not happy with the 4mm gap.

I had bought a piece of rubber tubing cut it to size and added a bit of colour too. This sits between the chrome rim and wing body.

This will help to redirect the rain and reduce the rain/ water ingress.

You're probably correct. I ain't no time served mechanic.
This is one of the few things I haven't been able to solve considering all the work I've carried out on my moggy. So for now this is my plan B.

There are various different types of headlight bowl. Metal ones and plastic ones. Also different types of headlights, sealed beam, BPF, halogen. The metal ring that goes around the glass reflector can be a tight fit but must go fully on. It sits on a sort of step on the glass. Also it’s possible that something is preventing the reflector going fully home into the bowl.

You have got the bowl to wing rubber gasket in place? Likewise on the sidelights there should be a gasket there too.

Regardless, it’s a quirky fix and looks quite jolly!

If it helps here is a picture with the headlight removed, if you zoom in you can see the rubber between bowl and wing, headlight then goes into inner bowl with adjusters and held in with ring and screws. Finally the outer chrome ring clips over the inner bowl and secured with one screw. This outer ring sit up against the rubber and there is no gap as you describe. Headlight fitted
