I purchased a copy of the A series engine by Graham Robson and straight away in the acknowledgements found a wonderful source of info.
I used my search engine to look for John Baker "Austin memories" a website full of good stuff.
Anyways up, its worth a look.

Thank you for posting this. I was very interested indeed by a part of that website that has nothing to do with engines at all. It was the information about the occupational healthcare of the employees at Longbridge. Very forward thinking and innovative occupational medicine. Remarkable.

Fascinating site, looks to be lots of good winter reading here. Thanks for sharing 👍

I'd also highly recommend Graham Robson's book on the A series engine. A very interesting read and source of useful facts and figures.
