What are the options for fitting a mobile phone on the dash of my Traveller? I want to use WAZE both as a map and as an accurate indicator of speed.Just wandered what you use.

I just use a phone holder with a suction pad on the windscreen. I have.a usb socket fitted under the dash to power it on longer trips

Having a metal dash you could just use a magnetic holder.

It doesn't stop you having one of the insulated type sockets wired to your polarity.
What's your obsession with positive earth when lots of other bits of your car are non standard according to your posts.

Positive earth is how it was made and how it stays. Yes I am obsessed with that. I might as well throw my car in the bin as change its polarity. Like what is non standard on my car?

From your post
Mine is original except for:

Inertia reel seatbelts
A hazard light switch
LED headlight bulbs (which could be swapped back in minutes, they are a direct swap type)
Currently it has electronic ignition but I have 2x distributors, one fitted with points for a quick switch back to originality
SU fuel pump with electronic module replacing the points. Again, I have a points pump as well.

Cylinder head is NOT modified for unleaded fuel (as yet)
Original positive earth

Yes indeed. I can put it all back if I want. Where I have used an electronic unit it is POSITIVE earth. I have been utterly obsessed with positive earth for 34 years.

I agree with Bill, you've previously posted that list with all the "Can be easily changed back' caveats, well guess what, changing back to Pos Earth is equally as easy....
That is except for the fact that you've potentially already paid more than other people just to get Pos Earth versions of :
LED Headlights
Electronic Ign
SU Fuel Pump

Your car, do with it as you wish, but please don't be so evangelical about your choices....

Personally, I think one of the biggest advantages is not risking someone cross connecting the batteries if/when doing a jump start.... That could potentially damage both vehicles, quite expensively on a modern car.....

That's a very valid point but fortunately in those situations there is a starting handle or being a convertible and relatively light its not too tricky to push it and start it. I'm over precious with my Morris. It was my first car and it is my baby and my darling! We have gone from young to older together. Xavier is my friend. He has his tantrums but he's never really let me down. He's always there reeking of oil and petrol and always eager. There can't be many that have been driven almost every day from the day they were made.

You can get usb chargers for motorcycles that are all sealed plastic parts with 2 wires coming out of them.

That is what I plan on using but I wondered what the best option for mounting the phone was. I do not like the idea of sticking it to the windscreen so some sort of dash mount seems best.

I have found the screen mouts to work better on the screen. I did stick a stanav onto thr metal dash but that damaged thr paintwork so I won't do that again

A usb point can me mounted discretely under the dash and then can be wired for positive or negative earth
