Post by Saward1 »

I have sorted my con rod noise new shells
But I have an oil leak after putting back the sump , is there another seal that needs doing . The leak is to the rear of the sump running down the engine plate ?

There are no seals at the rear of the 948cc 'A' Series engine. There are only gaskets.
I would suggest that the sump rear cork gasket has not been fitted as it should.
Did you disturb the top half of the rear scroll?

Phil is almost certainly correct - if the instructions for fitting the cork gaskets are not followed scrupulously, then an oil leak is bound to follow. It has been covered many times on here, so a search will throw up details, or follow the instructions in the manual......
