Right, for today's silly question, what could be the cause of this leak? The radiator needed topping up yesterday, but today the tray under the car had water in it and there was a drip every 10 secs or so. Inside the radiator the water the level had dropped considerably.

I have checked around the water pump and there is no evidence of a leak. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a radiator leak but check all hose connectors, thermostat housing etc.from the top down.
If you're getting a drip every 10 seconds it should be easy to spot. 👍🔝

Yes. Most likely the water pump - or possibly just the by-pass hose. Either way, it is best to replace the short hose with a cut length of heater hose. Don't fit one of those ridiculous crushable soft rubber jobs that last about 6 months

Water tends to run downwards. A dry paper towel will soon detect a ‘drip every 10 second’ leak (that is about a millilitre every 3 minutes, or so. It cannot take too long to isolate the area of the leak and then the actual leak.
