I’ve got a slight problem with the horn push on my 1967 Morris Minor 4 door.
Steering wheel is standard but the horn fails to sound from time to time.I recently had a new plastic tube and spring fitted.
I’ve tried 2 different horn pushes and they are about the same some times it sounds other times nothing.
Any suggestions anyone
Steve

Disconnect the battery.
Remove the steering wheel.
Remove the plastic cover (3 small screws) from the indicator stalk.
Inspect and clean the ring connector on the column and the "brush" that pushes against it. Make sure that the contact from the indicator stalk is fully engaged with the column contact as you rotate the column (just place the wheel on lightly or with the front wheels off the ground, get someone to move them from side to side to spin the column whilst you watch.

As Simon says but may also be worthwhile testing the horn off the car just to check that the horn itself is not the issue.

And, of course, clean and check the connections on the horn itself just in case they are loose or dirty.

I agree. In my experience, the majority of electrical faults on our old cars are the result of a poor or dirty connection somewhere.+-

Hi Guys
So the update is I’ve tried the things suggested and it basically hasnt worked.I found a different horn push in my tool box and tried that same problem. One thing I noticed is the wire that comes through the middle of the steering column is rather short. The plastic shroud and spring fit on but there is no room for the little nut that fits around the bullet connector at the end.Do you think that might be the problem.
Or could it be the metal connector on the horn push .
The horn itself is new and connected correctly and working.
