Cam flywheel bolt

Hi looking to remove the bolt but of course need to secure as turning.Advise please

Camshaft nut or flywheel bolts ? If it’s the nut you should be able to hold the flywheel, (or another person could) while you remove the cam nut, if it’s the flywheel bolts then you shouldn’t need to hold/lock anything, or again hold the flywheel at the perimeter

Then with a good fitting ring spanner, give it a sharp tap. After flattening the lock washer first !

Will have to look for the lock washer as unaware of that.We are having a problem as the cam is turning and the car is moving.Tried a block of wood under the wheel but still unable to make it tight enough to turn as can't hold the fly wheel with anything.Heared somewhere about holding the flywheel with a bar .Don't know if that is something to try.

Just to advise engine is still in the car.

Gearbox fitted? That might determine which end of the engine you are working on.

Thanks Les but we have tried a socket with a bar and it just turns so will have yo get inventive.May try jamming the fly wheel or get a rattle hammer or both.
