Hi all

A contentious subject.

I currently have the original standard seatbelts in Betty, non factory convertible, that I'd like to replace
Now I know there's loads to choose from, from different colours to static and inertia.

All the recommended inertia belts I've seen seem to have a long stalk that bolts in towards the back seat but I'm not keen on those as I'd like to keep the belt receiver where it currently is. IE next to the front seats.

As the original belts use a spring clip affair and ring to secure I'm imaging it's just a case of unbolting the rings to fit a different set of bolts (?)

I've had a thought about using early discovery rear belts in the front, as they have the short latches on them.

So. Any thoughts?

I marvel at the ingenuity of the originals.
If ever a question mark should be raised toward "improvements" then redesigning the seat belts over the generations is one.
But then I am an old curmudgeonly who firmly believes if it aint broke don't fix it.
I did however fit rear seat belts that were not fitted as standard to my 1965 model, for the grandkids, but decided as inertia reels were not invented then, I should fit new old fashioned types.
The choice of course is yours, but for my part, as a part of the 1960s experience, I put up with the old grey standards.
Part of perhaps, the slow travel experience.

You can get various lengths of the buckle strap if you shop around, as an example these are 12 inch

Bill_qaz those links have given me some food for thought as I'd not seen them before.

Moggiethouable, yes I do enjoy the relaxed pace and we want to keep the originality but the buckles can be a pain to adjust despite being cleaned and lubricated

Don't plan on modernising too much else though as she'll only be used on sunny days!

I am trying to buy it from the ebay link but it says the item is not available

Only the seat belt set in the top link is 'out of stock'.

There are many alternatives available search for 320mm if you particularly want 12 inch buckle on eBay. Just check description for the lengths that suits your requirements.
