Hi all
Can anyone help with the thread side of the fixing stud on the bonnet handle ?
The nut I have fits but is loose, I have tried a 2BA and a M5 but neither of these fits, I believe it is a original handle and am assuming at the moment that it will be a imperial thread.thanks in advance

From memory I believe they are 2BA.

As above I also think they are usually 2BA but they might just be 3/16" UNF?

I think that it is also designated 10/32 UNF

What "Ornament"?.......The Bonnet lift handle is the common term for The Engine Bay Cover Augmentary Ascension Device!
An ornament serves an aesthetic purpose only.
The thread on my HANDLE is 2BA by the way.

Well I suppose it is really an 'ornament', as the handbooks recommend closing the bonnet by pressing down on the flatter parts either side of the domed part. An old-time mechanic once chastised me for closing the bonnet by pressing down on the handle and I have never done it since. One would never try and use it to raise the bonnet.

I wasn’t trying to be awkward. I just have never used it as a handle and it doesn’t seem to be suitable as a handle so I thought it was an ornament really.

Well, you got it right then! Although it is sometimes described as a 'bonnet lift handle', it not supposed to be used for that purpose, as I said previously.

To end - or add to - any confusion, the BMC parts book calls it a "Flash assembly"
I think we all know what the OP was talking about though, whatever we choose to call it .

Ah! Now all becomes clear! I've long wondered how van owners manage to open and close their bonnets; that explains it.

So often the original enquiry gets lost in "Irrelevant Twaddle" and I'm afraid I find it very amusing and am sometimes prompted to tweak the noses of the humour bypass brigade!.................Only Kidding?
