Engine & underbody steam clean.

My 1967 Moggie convertible is very oily & greasy underneath. There is a leak of about a drop a day, but I think the oil underneath has been there for a long time. Does anyone know of an engine & underbody steam cleaning service in the Surrey area?

My 1969 convertible is also very oily underneath. I have left it as I think it has helped keep corrosion at bay. It is very unpleasant to work underneath the car though! Back in the day didn’t people deliberately spray the underbody and inside box sections with used engine oil?

On my own Minor the oil and grease is what has protected it all these years! It is covered in the stuff but at 65years old has still never required any welding repairs, so I reckon to leave well alone - even if it is rather messy
When I worked in a garage several of the old mechanics used to spray their cars with oil quite regularly. A most unpleasant job which brings all kinds of health risks but will make your car last longer. Longer than you anyway :-?

Thanks for the advice. I found a steam cleaner in Staines (No pun intended) who charge £165.00. However now Ive discovered I'm not alone in being covered in sticky oily grease every time I venture underneath, I think I'll leave well alone.
Maybe the previous owner did deliberately coat the underside in oil.

Just get yourself some decent overalls, a hat of some sort and a box of latex gloves :)

It's like small engine oil leaks, just keep it topped up and your engines getting frequent oil changes

It should be removed from any rubber components it has got to, i.e. rubber mountings for gearbox, exhaust, brake hoses and rubber bushes.
