A question for people more knowledgeable than myself…
Why are replacement wings etc not made available in aluminium? Cost? Steel is cheaper. Fibre glass is even lighter than aluminium, so no point? I’ve always wondered.

Not to do with cost more that aluminium and steel cannot live together. The two different metals especially when damp create a galvanic corrosion so eating away at the aluminium.
I have seen the aluminium wings of a Alvis TD 21 which has a rolled edge formed around a steel wire just corrode away over time. Very expensive to repair.
