Rebuilt Distributor Lucas 25D4. Very impressed

Just thought I'd share my rebuilt distributor. Lucas 25D4 41269. The work was done by Distributor Doctor and a Pertronix electronic ignition module was fitted at the same time. I am very impressed. The distributor was extremely worn out and quite a few parts were so worn they had to be replaced. It is little wonder the engine did not perform well with the ignition system so impaired.

Yes that is true! I searched for a NOS or refurbished distributor first and tried MMOC sprares as well but my search was fruitless so I had mine rebuilt instead at rather a scary cost.

This is now installed and the car runs very well. I had an Accuspark distributor installed whilst the original was away and it was rubbish in comparison. The advance just was not right though the car ran better than with a very worn original distributor

I'll struggle to use them after a recent poor experience with them, supplied faulty parts (rotor arms made of the wrong material) which they knew about and didn't bother to contact those affected, stuck beside the A14 on a freezing busy sunday evening when the car cuts out at 70mph in the fast lane, with a wife recovering from Cancer was no fun at all.

On the other hand Suffolk police and Hammond recovery come highly recomended!

To be fair they did send a new part but I would have expected a company who push (and charge for) quality to act before things went wrong (they had my address etc).

If you bought a rover V8 rotor arm from them around 18 months ago I would change it!

I am sorry to hear that. Thank goodness you and you wife are OK. That must have been a frightening experience. I hope my rebuilt distributor proves more reliable!!
