HS2 Carb jet pipe to float Viton seal

Post by svenedin »

I had a problem with a rusty fuel tank (now replaced). I also had a problem with a misbehaving fuel pump. I wanted to open the float bowl to check in there and found a lot of rusty particles. I thought it would be a good idea to remove the jet tube from the float bowl to flush out the muck and also to flush out the jet and pipe.

Anyway, on reassembly I managed to mangle the sealing washer between jet pipe and float bowl. I was expecting this to be rubber but it is not. It seems to be green Viton.

Does anybody know where I can get this part? I think it is this part on ESM: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/fuel- ... 2-p1238464

Can anybody confirm if this is the part I need? It seems this one is rubber, I cannot find a Viton one.

Happy New Year,

Stephen

If you are looking for the rubber ring which goes on the end of the flexible pipe which comes from the main jet and screws in the bottom of the float bowl that looks like right part.

I don't think it was originally sold separately to the jet (Burlen don't list it) which probably explains the o ring you found.

Thanks Kevin. Yes that is exactly the part I need. I have ascertained that this part is AUD 2194. Burlen do not say what material it is made from. I ordered (what I hope is) the same part from ESM as I also needed some other things from them. Burlen do sell this part too but it is not listed in the diagrams of the HS2 carburettor/float. It is quite tricky to re-fit the jet tube to the float bowl because it is not possible to see what one is doing with the carburettor on the car. I had everything in the right order but I did not have the seal seated properly. When I tightened up the gland nut it leaked because the seal got mangled and I overtightened it. This is why I need a new one. Anyway, new part is now en-route.

For anybody doing this and having problems this video from Moss Motors is useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPzu2zzyGCQ
