Hi,

After a terrible day yesterday replacing the steering rack gaiters and track rod end boots, getting covered in EP90 and grease, struggling to get the things on then lamenting the fact that after all that work, the car wouldn't feel any different, I finally got round to fitting Declan's rose jointed clutch linkage today.

The difference is incredible, It's absolutely transformed the car! It's gone from heavy, imprecise and just generally awful to light, smooth and accurate. I've just been driving around, laughing to myself about how good it feels. It's almost unnerving.

Fitting was all straightforward with the trickiest part being fitting the rubber dust boots, followed by removing the old split pins.

I had almost given up on the dust boots when my wife came up with an idea to get them on, pictured below. Inserting a narrow pair of kitchen tongs, pulling them apart then just dropping the rose joint in. Made it really easy!

Anyway, a huge thanks to Declan for coming up with this! I can't recommend it enough.

Great job done. These jobs make the car more of a pleasure to use even when they are tough to do.

Does anyone supply kits for this linkage? I've had a look around without much success!

Thanks - Dave H.

How much was the kit if you don't mind me asking? Also if it's that good I wouldn't mind one myself if they're readily available, any details by pm if you prefer not to disclose publicly.

Thanks,

Martyn

Hi,

The kit is from forum member Declan Burns so you need to contact him for details.

The level of improvement you'll see depends on how bad your current linkage is, I imagine. Mine was particularly awful and had that same on/off action while also being very heavy. It made me really dread stopping on a hill. This has taken out all the play in the system.

I also changed the relay shaft and bushes, swapping the rubber to poly but there wasn't any observable wear here so I don't think that part made much of a difference. The holes in the two metal plates were worn quite oval even though they were replaced not that long ago.

Thanks,
James
