I'm refurbing the seats in my pick up.
I'm wanting, if possible, to reuse the vinyl covers.
I'm obviously going to replace the original dunlopillow foam.
I'll also remove all the old hessian, horsehair (?), and felt.
This will leave just the bare vinyl cover. Do I need to glue thin foam to the underside of the seat and sides/front sections? If so, what thickness?
What do new replacement covers come with? Has anyone got a photo of the insides of say a Newton Commercial seat cover?

If you remove the old padding from the seat, you will have to replace it. Newton Commercial sell padding kits and these are glued on before the covers are reinstalled.

I've ordered the top two items in your links already (padding and base foam).
The third item (frame wrap) answers my question about the sides/front.
What I need to know now is... Should the underside of the seat vinyl have some thin foam glued to it (in addition to the main base foam)? See drawing.

i.e. do new seat base covers come with thin foam on the underside of the seat section

I didn't really want to bother them seeing as I won't be buying their covers.

I think I've answered my own question.
Having taken it apart further I've found that felt was sewn into the panels originally. Most of it has disintergrated so I'm cutting out what's left.
I'll glue foam panels onto the vinyl to replace it.

I'll check some of my old seat coverings but yes, it looks like you will need to replace the old horsehair padding with something else. In theory, the base foam should do anyway but some thin foam glued on probably won't do any harm.

Somewhere I have some NOS seat covers. Will have a look and see what's on them.
