Can somebody please tell me which is best out of the following? Mr TheHill pointed to the nylon one in a previous post and mine is indeed the later engine (1968 Traveller), but 9 times out of 10 I would choose brass over plastic, unless.....?

Plastic is good. It's tough stuff.

Are the threads for the speedo cable attachment damaged?
If they are damaged, you could always use a good S/H brass pinion housing.

The threads of the brass pinion housing are less likely to get damaged than the plastic type.
You may have to change the pinion gear to your original gear but that is no great deal.

No, the threads on all parts are fine but I just thought that brass may be more solid and longer lasting than plastic.

I have oil leaking from the housing so ordered a new oil seal from ESM but I have the same issue as the OP from one of your previous replies - I can't get the old seal out. It's a wonder they sell them tbh.
