I understand that next year’s National Rally will be held at Droitwich.
WHY do we NEVER have this rally further up in the country.
There are other Morris minor owners that live out with the southern part of England .
Rant over

———-there’s me thinking it should be more in the southern part of the country. Goes to show— you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

I thought that the item in Minor Matters expressed it rather well: Anywhere other than the Midlands. At least it's away from Kelmarsh, if by only 60-70 miles. If anyone has ideas for venues then I'm sure that the Committee would consider them.

Would of thought both a "Southern MMOC Rally" & a "Northern MMOC Rally" might be an answer, though poss. scuppered by cost(?).

Alternate between a northern location and a southern location each year? Those who don't like to drive too far will have a bi-annual opportunity to attend. Personally, if I lived in the UK I'd quite fancy a trip to Cornwall, nice quiet little town, seaside, Cornish paaaasty, ice cream and a cuppa tea before heading home - sounds perfect. Maybe not so much if you come from somewhere like Newcastle though.

If one looks at the list of previous rallies (see publication "Celebrating 40 years" of the MMOC 1976 - 2016) then it's clear that the site has moved around. We did come down to Sparkford in South Somerset and Breamore House near Salisbury; and they were great places to explore. We've also been up to Yorkshire and across to Sandringham in Norfolk, plus quite a few other places; it's only recently that we seem to have got bogged down in one place/area; and I really don't know why.
My theory is that there are three types of Member: Those who will attend the rally wherever it is, those who will never attend a rally, even if it's next door to them; and the vast majority who will attend if it's a reasonable distance away. There might be a fourth who will combine attending a rally with a holiday, and so want to visit different areas each year.
It's not easy to find a site that can accommodate a rally at a price that makes it affordable; but again, if anyone has any suggestions, then please contact the Committee.

Agree, and the problem for owners in Cornwall who might want to attend a rally up-country is that it is so far from almost anywhere in England!

Given the spread of members, it really needs to be somewhere central to get maximum numbers. I live in Scotland and so always have a long journey south wherever the rally is ! I just have to accept that it's a fact of geography. I'll certainly be at Chateau Impney next July.
As an aside, I think there is a northern region rally at Ripon at the end of September organised by one of the Yorkshire branches.

Fifth: Those whose cars always decide they want to breakdown when the rally is on
Don't see why there couldn't be two rallies (apart maybe, from all the fun the organisers would have dealing with two), some clubs have two - and their admission price to members is included in the annual membership fee.

What time do you want to get there? You'll find people on the gates quite early.

It'll certainly be open at 9.00am, probably earlier.

National is too far for me and "Xavier" but I will be going to the West Sussex Branch (also Surrey Hills Branch) which is on Saturday 1st July at Broadbridge Heath (near Horsham) 1pm to 5pm.

Hope everyone that goes has a great weekend. It’s too far south for us, so unfortunately nobody from our little club is going.
Hopefully there will be one further north next year.

Having made the (horrible) drive from Glasgow to Cornwall last year (in a modern car) I fully appreciate how cut off you are from the rest of the country. Nice part of the world though.

Been getting my car ready for the West Sussex rally. I do have the feeling I’m washing and polishing a turd. My poor rusty car!
