New brake parts all round except the peddle. However, I don't seem to be able achieve the 1 1/4" play at the peddle mentioned in the Haynes manual? I'm just running out of thread and best is 1 1/2" of play . . .
Any ideas?

Re: Having problems adjusting the brake peddle!
I presume that you are trying to adjust the actuating rod on the master cylinder.
The recommended 1 1/4 play is with the floor in place. When the floor/transmission tunnel is removed the pedal is free to rise above it's regular position. Try placing a straight edge over the pedal at floor level and adjust from there.
Good luck
